Comment follow-up: TaskForce turns your workday into a game

taskforce

When I marveled at Daily Todo, reader ViaTorci recommended TaskForce, a similarly minimalistic application for managing a single day's workload.

This is one of the coolest recommendations that I've received via a comment. You don't need an account; you just enter your name, and then enter a task along with an estimated duration. A timer starts counting down, and then you go and do the task. Your goal is to get back to TaskForce and check the task off as done before the time is up. If you do that, your "business value" increases. For every task that you do not complete on time, your "business value" decreases. The emoticon reflects your current value - it's not always smiling.

What I like about this tool is that it's elegantly designed, and I can actually see myself using it to make a workday fly by, getting my tasks done one after the other. Another plus is that it encourages you to set realistic durations for your tasks. Once the workday is over, TaskForce remembers your score and your name for tomorrow, so the score adds up from day to day.

TaskForce doesn't have its own domain yet, so you can use it (and vote for it) as part of the 10K Apart contest.
